A delegation from EABA visited the new Abu Qir project

In response to the call of Lieutenant-General Ahmed Khaled, Commander of the Naval Forces, A delegation from the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association, Headed by Mr. Mohamed El-Antabli, Chairman of the Association’s Transport Committee, Member of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Navigation Chamber, on an official visit to the new Abu Qir port, Accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Moselhi, Chairman of the Alexandria Chamber of Navigation, And a number of commanders of the naval forces and Abu Qir sea port.

The visit included a presentation of the new Abu Qir port, Explaining the dimensions of the project and its impact on maritime transport in Egypt in general and Alexandria in particular.

It is noteworthy that the new port of Abu Qir includes a number of berths of length and depth, which, when completed, will become one of the largest ports in the Mediterranean. It consists of berths for containers, general cargo, and dry and liquid bulk. The port is linked to the main roads and axes to the international coastal road, the Alexandria road and the agricultural road.

This project is a great addition to raising the efficiency and capabilities of maritime transport in Egypt. It is also an addition to the Alexandria Governorate, as it includes a new corniche with a length of 11 km and lands designated for residential and commercial use. It is scheduled to open a pier with a length of 600 meters and a depth of 22 meters before the middle of next year.

It is worth noting that the largest international companies specialized in designing the new port were hired, led by the Belgian company “Demi”, the Al-Garabli Company for Integrated Engineering Works, and the Dredging Company. Electronic maps were also designed by the Scientific Office for Studies and Research, and Al-Deeb Legal Consultations Office.

International expert houses such as the universities of Rome, the Netherlands and Italy were used to design the breakwater using international methods and methods, which ensure that the port is not closed in different weather and climate conditions.
