The African Development Bank, in cooperation with the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association, will host an investment forum in the pharmaceutical industry in Cairo on the ninth of next October.
The forum aims to explore the financing options required for pharmaceutical manufacturing manufacturing projects in Egypt. This exclusive forum will provide leading Egyptian pharmaceutical companies with the opportunity to learn more about the African Development Bank’s pharmaceutical plan, financial offers and co-financing opportunities to support Egypt to reach its potential as a pharmaceutical hub in Africa.
Egypt has great potential in the pharmaceutical field as the largest producer and consumer of pharmaceuticals in the Middle East and North Africa region, as the country’s pharmaceutical market is valued at more than $56 billion, and pharmaceutical exports generate $400 million for the economy, indicating the country’s importance in African and global value chains. .
The forum will also provide a platform for face-to-face business meetings and networking opportunities between key sector players and financing institutions. The Egyptian African Businessmen Association is the strategic partner for organizing this event. Organizations expected to attend include the Islamic Development Bank, Equivia Health Systems, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the PATH Group.

Through a partnership approach that includes co-financing with commercial banks and other players, the African Development Bank is exploring ways to support impactful pharmaceutical industry programs in Egypt by providing financing, high-level advisory services on market access in Africa, and technical assistance in preparing bankable projects. Egyptian manufacturers have recently entered into mergers or made new investments aimed at expanding into other African countries.
