Dr. Yousry El-Sharqawy: Development and modernization eliminate isolated islands
A team from the Egyptian African Businessmen Association (EABA), headed by Dr. Yousry El-Sharqawy and accompanied by Eng. Mohamed El-Fouly, Chairman of the Industry Committee of the Association, Dr. Hatem Raslan, Chairman of the International Trade and Foreign Relations Committee, and Mr. Karim El-Barqouqi, Vice-Chairman of the Export Committee of the Association, visited the Industrial Modernization Center and they were received by Eng. Mohamed Abdul Karim and Mr. Nader Saad
The meeting dealt with a definition of what the association offers to serve the Egyptian and African industry, and discuss mechanisms of joint cooperation to support the orientation of the Egyptian state and political leadership in the industry file and its impact on raising the rates of Egyptian exports.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Yousry El-Sharqawy expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, led by Minister Nevin Jameh, and all the agencies concerned and assisting with the development of industry in Egypt, and that the coming future is to raise the rates of industry participation in the GDP, which we hope will exceed the 20% barrier of GDP in the next 3 years.

Al-Sharqawi pointed out that this period is one of the most important and optimal periods in which we all in Egypt and in Africa must unite as a business community in order to make a qualitative leap, especially since the real political will is now available to bring about development in the continent, which has one of the largest markets of 1.3 billion people. We have to eliminate isolated islands in our future plans and link the modernization of industry with new mechanisms in commercial and marketing thought by modernizing the roads and means of land and sea transport, all with effective solutions in banking and monetary transactions within the continent.

Engineer Mohamed Abdel Karim expressed his deep thanks to the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association, the organizations and bodies that are the real intellectual stock and the main tributary of development and modernization.
Ali also stressed that the center is preparing a comprehensive plan to modernize the Egyptian industry that combines the development of the traditional industries sectors and the addition of two new sectors for modernization, such as the alternative energy industries and digital industries.
The plan being prepared also put into consideration the work in accordance with Egypt’s 2030 vision, according to the vision of sustainable development at the world level emanating from the vision of the United Nations.

Eng. Mohamed Abdel Karim Ali indicated the keen interest in cooperation in the field of industrial modernization with the African side, as he set one of the strategic objectives and a team is being allocated within the center for this file, and there is also cooperation in this regard to transfer the Egyptian experience to Sudan.
Hatem Raslan stressed the need to pay attention to governance in private industrial sector companies and the need for this to be a general goal with performance and measurement indicators to ensure the development of the Egyptian industry and maintain its quality, adding to the necessity and importance of modernizing the approved laboratories with Arab and African countries to standardize specifications to facilitate the access of Egyptian products to these markets

Mohamed El-Fouly stressed the need to have updated databases linked between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Industries, Industry Modernization Centers, research centers and universities in Egypt and the African continent in a project that emerges from a strategic goal that the Industrial Modernization Center boasts, and this is the permanent electronic reference for all industrialists and those interested.
Mr. Karim Al-Barqouqi stressed that, as an association, we have various committees that have contacts with African banks and have cooperation in various fields of transportation, which we can offer to businessmen interested in modernizing and developing various industries in a way that causes a boom in African industry in the near future.
