The Egyptian-African Businessmen’s Association headed by Dr Yousrey Elsharkawi organized Uganda business day today,
The conference was evidence of the association’s permanent support for the promotion of international trade and investment between all African countries and beyond in promoting intra-African trade.
El-Sharkawi expressed his thanks and appreciation for the attendance. The conference dealt with many important points on how to reformulate the work between the private sectors of the two countries, He explained to the attendees the mechanism of implementing several bilateral meetings, and specialized for some products, Like: coffee, cocoa, Ugandan tea.
ElSharkawi began his speech by explaining the importance and role of what the association offers at the level of the continent and the importance of supporting intra-African trade. Stressing that Egypt and Uganda have many ties and partnerships in the Nile Basin, And that there are many opportunities in trade and investment between the two countries, Emphasizing in his speech the importance of helping the brothers in Uganda to enter the Egyptian markets, Of course, in the same context, opening and expanding the horizons of work, trade, and investment in Uganda.
It is worth noting that there was an increase in the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Uganda during the period “January-October” of 2019 by about 4.3%, to record $99.2 million, We hope to benefit from this cooperation and all channels of communication between the two countries to achieve one billion dollars in 3 years.
The conference reviewed how to push new Egyptian, Gulf and African investors in this field in a modern way. This requires the establishment of some modern promotional activities.
ElSharkawi welcomed the Ugandan side’s contribution, The Ugandan Embassy in particular, Through its communication with the Ugandan community and all parties in Uganda to support the promotion of medical tourism in Egypt, Egypt has this ability in light of the development of the health system now.
Dr. Yousrey ElSharkawi affirmed the Egyptian-African Businessmen’s Association’s constant keenness to promote international trade and investment between all African countries and abroad and to promote a unified African market.
It is worth noting that the volume of Egyptian exports to Uganda during 2019 amounted to $112 million, which included paper and its products. food products clinker, building materials, chemical and plastic products, steel plates, agricultural crops, Marble and granite.
The value of Egypt’s exports to the Ugandan market during the first 10 months of 2019 increased by 2.93% to record about $91.2 million. After the Corona pandemic and the activation of the Intra-African Trade Agreement, we seek to make good strides in the next stages.
