Red Sea Conference on Maritime Transport and Logistics

The Egyptian-African Businessmen Association headed by Dr. Yousrey Elsharkawi Participated At the Red Sea Conference on Maritime Transport and Logistics, Today 20Feb

And in the presence of Lieutenant-General, Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, and a number of Ministers of Transport, Trade representatives of the countries bordering the Red Sea coast, and port leaders of companies operating in the maritime transport sector.

The opening activities of the conference were attended by the Jordanian Minister of Transport, Eng. Wajih Al-Azayzeh. And the Sudanese Minister of Transport in charge, Dr. Hisham Abu Zeid, The event was attended by a number of ambassadors of Arab and African countries. Among them are Ambassador Osama Al-Naqli, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, and Amjad Al-Adayleh, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Jordan. and Mohamed Elias Al-Hajj, Ambassador of the State of Sudan, His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Ali Berri, Ambassador of Djibouti, and the Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy of Yemen, Abdul Rahman Al-Zaili, As well as the ambassadors of South Africa, Mozambique and Mauritius.

During his speech, Elsharkawi stressed that the importance of maritime transport comes from its connection to the Suez Canal, which is the most important navigation channel. To serve the global trade movement and explore available opportunities; For cooperation and economic integration with a common vision and agreement to work hard to enhance the volume of intra-regional trade, especially seaborne, and to stand up to the challenges facing us, whether economic or security, in the Red Sea Basin region, And coming up with a unified vision for the countries bordering it, which will represent the common strategy required at the present time to face the economic challenges faced by the countries of the region and the world at large due to the Corona pandemic.

The session was attended by: Major General A.H. Amr Ismail, Head of the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports, Tariq Zagloul, Regional Director of IKEN in Egypt and Sudan, and Eng. Medhat El-Qadi, Chairman of the International Transport and Logistics Division and member of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Navigation Chamber, Mahmoud El-Bassiouni, Director Executive Director of the Chamber of Food Industries in the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Dr. Yousry El-Sharqawy, President of the Egyptian and African Businessmen Association.

It is noteworthy that this conference comes within the framework of the direction of the Arab Republic of Egypt towards deepening economic cooperation with East African countries. and the Red Sea Basin in order to achieve economic integration, enhance the volume of trade exchange and encourage investments in light of the huge potentials and broad opportunities for trade and economic cooperation in the region.
