Dr. Yousrey El Sharkawi stated that the association operates in alignment with the directives of the political leadership, working diligently to implement a well-structured and studied plan aimed at enhancing the organized and effective presence of the private sector in Africa.
He emphasized that the events will commence in Kinshasa, targeting the increased participation and deeper commercial presence of Egyptian products. Moreover, they aim to open new avenues of collaboration in infrastructure projects, engaging active private sector companies with Congolese partners. This is part of EABA’s ongoing efforts, which this year alone have included missions to Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Cameroon, with the current stop being the DRC. Upcoming missions are planned for Uganda and Burundi in early December.
Regarding the events, Dr. El Sharkawi highlighted that the activities include a variety of commercial engagements:
- Meetings with Congolese ministers and regional leaders
- Interaction with over 44 Congolese state-owned companies across nine sectors
- Engagements with 150 leading Congolese importers
- Field visits to markets and hospitals to organize and establish a model for medical tourism
- Organizing 125 bilateral meetings between Egyptian and Congolese companies
- Discussions on infrastructure projects with ministries and government agencies, focusing on electric power, roads, and construction projects
- Announcement of the Egyptian-Congolese Trade and Investment Company, which has been officially registered and accredited in the DRC
Special thanks were extended to all contributing entities and teams from various government agencies, notably the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador Hisham Al Maqoud, Egypt’s Ambassador to the DRC, as well as members of the delegation, the Egyptian Commercial Service, and the national carrier EgyptAir, the main sponsor. Appreciation was also given to Arab Contractors, a leading company and main sponsor, under the leadership of Engineer Ahmed Al-Assar, for their efforts in advancing Egypt’s economic and commercial presence in Africa.
