EABA & South African Embassy in the first joint cooperation at the private sector level after BRICS

The “South African-Egyptian Business Forum” was held today, with the participation of the Governor of Cape Town and a high-level delegation including 22 from the South African business and financial community, hosted by the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association. It is the first of its kind after the successful “BRICS” summit in its last session.

This unique occasion comes in the context of strengthening economic and trade relations between Egypt and South Africa, and comes as a strategic step for cooperation between the two countries in light of the BRICS and the promising economic opportunities it offers.

The Governor of Cape Town expressed his great happiness with this important economic forum, and stressed that it is indeed a gateway to increased cooperation between Egypt and South Africa, especially in this period after Egypt’s accession to the BRICS group. He also referred to the Cairo-Cape Tow Road Project as an inspiring model that embodies a tangible transformation. It was transformed from a mere usage idea into a symbol that expresses an effort to build and modernize comprehensively. This experience proves the ability of the two countries to achieve progress and provide opportunities in light of the challenges of the contemporary economic world.

In this context, Dr. Yousrey El-Sharkawi, Chairman of EABA, stressed the importance of the forum and the future of Egyptian-African relations in light of global economic transformations. He said: “The forum represents a unique platform to enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and South Africa, and opens the door to tremendous investment opportunities in the African continent. We are excited about a bright future for economic relations between the two countries and cooperation in various sectors.”

He added: “Global economic life has witnessed many challenges recently, which makes rapprochement and integration an inevitable necessity to achieve new partnerships, open markets, manage needs, and exchange goods with important markets. We are opening our doors to receive trade and investment partnerships with the country of South Africa.”

He concluded by saying: “The world was affected by the Corona pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war, but this ignited a new interest in the African continent. We must all work to utilize these opportunities in a comprehensive and integrated manner to enhance development and cooperation.”

On the other hand, the South African ambassador to Egypt expressed his happiness with the holding of this forum and the participation of a high-level delegation from his country. He said: “We are grateful for this unique opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and South Africa. We will work hard to enhance economic and trade cooperation between our two countries, and we look forward to more successes and promising opportunities, stressing the importance of cooperation, especially at the present time and with Egypt’s accession to the BRICS. He also pointed out the importance of Focus in many areas such as trade and industry.

With regard to economic relations and trade exchange between the two countries, Egyptian-South African cooperation has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years. Egypt is one of South Africa’s most important trading partners on the African continent, where a variety of products and services are exchanged between the two countries.

This event represents an important step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation between Egypt and South Africa and opening new doors for economic opportunities and investment on the African continent. The forum provided companies and investors with a unique opportunity to expand their networks and increase trade exchange between the two countries, which will contribute to achieving common development and prosperity.
