145 Ugandan Companies and 15 Egyptian Companies Gather at the Largest Economic Forum Organized by the EABA

In line with the Egyptian African Businessmen Association’s (EABA) ongoing efforts to enhance economic cooperation and expand trade partnerships between Egypt and African nations, and building on the association’s strong relationships with its strategic partners, EABA is preparing to launch a major business mission to Uganda and neighboring countries. This mission, organized in coordination with the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Uganda, the Egyptian Commercial Office, and EABA’s Uganda office in collaboration with Ajof Logistics, will take place from December 2 to 6, 2024.

The mission will feature the participation of more than 15 Egyptian companies and over 145 Ugandan companies from various economic sectors, alongside the presence of prominent official entities.

Leading the delegation is Dr. Yousrey El-Sharkawi, Chairman of EABA, who will participate in bilateral meetings and extensive discussions. The forum will be held under the patronage and participation of the Minister of State for Finance and Investment of Uganda, the President of the Uganda Investors Federation, the Senior Advisor to the Ugandan President for Middle East Affairs, and the Uganda Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The mission will also include field visits to key investment sites and Ugandan markets, providing Egyptian companies with firsthand insights into Uganda’s market needs and investment opportunities.

Dr. Yousrey El-Sharkawi emphasized that this mission is part of the association’s vision to strengthen Egypt’s presence in African markets, highlighting Uganda as a promising investment destination in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, infrastructure, and energy. He noted that the success of EABA’s recent mission to the Democratic Republic of Congo serves as a strong motivation to continue these efforts.

He also stressed EABA’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for partnerships between the private sectors of Egypt and African countries, contributing to economic integration and driving development across the continent.

Dr. El-Sharkawi further highlighted that the Uganda mission aligns with EABA’s strategy to enhance the presence of Egyptian companies in African markets and foster economic ties with African nations. He pointed out that the participation of official Ugandan entities and companies reflects the shared commitment to achieving economic integration.

He added, “We believe that such initiatives support efforts toward sustainable development and strengthen Egypt’s role as a key economic partner in Africa.”

This mission is expected to open new avenues for economic collaboration between Egypt and Uganda and support trade integration across African nations, in line with the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). It reaffirms Egypt’s leadership and the private sector’s efforts to drive sustainable development in the continent through effective partnerships based on mutual interests and a shared economic vision.
