Commercial contracts between Africans and the products of El-Mahalla El-Kubra in Gharbia

Within the framework of the activities of the sixth day of the Intra-African Trade Exhibition and Conference, the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association, headed by Dr. Yousrey El-Sharkawi, organized a field trip to Gharbia Governorate on the occasion of the third session of the Intra-African Trade Fair IATF2023, in which the association implements a variety of activities within the association’s program and initiative, “Ambassadors.” “For the Egyptian industry.” The visit aimed to implement realistically the directives of the Egyptian political leadership, and we have always been keen to implement the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the necessity of informing Africans in practice and in reality of the reality of Egypt’s industrial and production capabilities, and this is the best marketing method.

The visit was received by the Minister Governor, Governor of Gharbia, Dr. Tariq Rahmi, Gharbia businessmen, some representatives, and the Chamber of Textile Industries in Gharbia, led by Representative Mahmoud Al-Shami, businessman Muhammad Fathi Abu Al-Fath, and the Association of Textile Factory Owners in Mahalla.

The visit included a group of members of the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association, headed by Dr. Yousrey El-Sharkawi, accompanied by members of the Board of Directors, a delegation consisting of 100 Africans, and 7 ambassadors and heads of missions in Egypt – including Mauritius, Côdivoire, Niger, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and Uganda. A visit was made to 4 major factories in Mahalla, led by them. The Misr Spinning Company factory in Mahalla El-Kubra is one of the largest and most ancient industrial castles in Africa since 1927. The delegation inspected Egypt’s most modern factories after development in the textile industries. This was followed by a visit to 3 of the largest private sector factories for luxury cotton products – and a visit to an exhibition that was specially prepared with 60 exhibitors of Mahalla’s products under Title: “From the heart of the Delta to all of Africa” – and an introductory seminar in the lecture hall of the Logistics District in Tanta – with the governorate’s products – and a cooperation protocol was signed between the African Egyptian Businessmen Association and the Textile Factory Owners Association in Mahalla El-Kubra in preparation for expanding joint work on the continent.

Dr. Yousrey El-Sharqawi, chairman of the Association, stated that during a week of intensive work, and from here from Gharbia, we are determined to export various Gharbia products according to new mechanisms for their entry into all African markets in an organized manner, internally and externally, and in a sustainable manner. We will cooperate with the governorate for the success of this mission, especially since Gharbia’s products are in demand in Africa, as well as perfume and jasmine products. It is needed globally and in Europe, and the Western model, which has the capabilities, including all the friends and members of the association, deserves that we work for the success and expansion of participation and the export of expertise and products from Western Europe, which is what African countries, including Mauritius, Burkina Faso, Benin and Togo, are already looking for.

Dr. Tariq Rahmi, Governor of Gharbia, expressed his thanks, appreciation and gratitude for this important, effective and successful visit. He stressed his happiness when he saw the visitors from Uganda, Kenya, Senegal and South Sudan negotiating with manufacturers and merchants to contract to purchase products from Mahalla. He stressed his readiness to personally support this important file and that the governorate will An action plan is being prepared with the association to create twinnings with African governorates and capitals to support the files of transferring expertise and capabilities, exporting and exchanging products, as well as activating real training in small, medium and advanced projects, and that Western countries have leadership in this field.

Coordination was made with the Kenyan delegation, as well as telephone contact with the Senegal Chamber of Commerce to request lists of importers of clothing and cotton products from outside the continent, so that samples and prices for Western products could be sent to them in preparation for a qualitative shift in this important file.

At the end of the day, the governor honored the embassies, the ambassadors, the heads of missions, and the members of the missions. In the closing speech, Al-Sharqawi expressed how happy he was when he saw more than 100 Africans raising the Mahalla Al-Kubra textile products high, taking pictures with them. It was a dream and became a reality, as they sent and published all these pictures and clips on me.
