Under the patronage of the Minister of Trade and Industry, The Egyptian Minister of Finance, And in the presence of 3 Nigerian Ministers of Commerce, Industry, Irrigation and Housing, The Governor of Kaduna State, The Ambassador of Nigeria in Cairo, The activities of the second day of the Egyptian-Nigerian Economic Conference continued. Organized by the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association, chairman by Dr. Yousrey El-Sharkawi in cooperation with the Nigerian-Egyptian Association for Culture and Social Economy and in the presence of the largest delegation from the Nigerian business community in the history of trade relations, The activities began with bilateral meetings between the two countries.
Dr. Yousrey El-Sharkawi confirmed that the attendance exceeded expectations, and the participation exceeded 95% of the target over the two days, and it was represented in 12 different economic, productive and investment sectors. About 9-10 Nigerian companies attended in each sector, and in return for them, more than 20 Egyptian companies in the same sector In total, more than 250 bilateral meetings took place over 8 hours in the presence of government members from the two countries and Nigerian ministers, The meetings resulted in several agreements, including the Egyptian plastic sewage pipe factories, to start work immediately. As well as an agreement to start importing Egyptian ready-made clothes to Nigeria with an Egyptian factory. As well as the volume of deals for a gas pipeline plant between the Nigerian side, One of the Egyptian manufacturers sponsored by Afrixambank, who was the partner and supporter of these events, In the sectors of building materials, medical devices and engineering industries, it was agreed between 6 companies from both sides to start work immediately. There were also commercial discussions in the sector of agriculture, fertilizers and solar energy, which is considered a success that almost resulted in actual commercial business in this meeting approaching 30 million dollars in Egyptian export deals to the Nigerian side.
ElSharkawi extended his full thanks to the Egyptian government for what it provided today, which was supported by the Ministry of Finance, and the Egyptian Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Maait, for these meetings, who sent a delegation representing the ministry to the Investment and Trade Support Unit. Which expressed all his efforts to meet and solve the problems of Nigerian investors and traders immediately in a commendable precedent that left a deep impact on the hearts of the Egyptian-Nigerian presence.
Dr. Yousrey Al-Sharkawi, chairman of the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association, was accompanied by the Nigerian Minister of Housing and Labor, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Yaqoub, and the delegation of Nigerian businessmen to visit the Talaat Mustafa Group at the invitation of Engineer Hisham Talaat Mustafa. Then, Dr. Yousrey El-Sharkawi and the members of the association accompanied the Nigerian delegation to visit another distinguished investment model in the construction and building sector. The Redcon group of companies was visited, and they were welcomed by Eng. Tariq Al-Jammal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, accompanied by all the CEOs, directors of sectors and heads of departments. The whole experience of Redcon was presented, The Nigerian side was interested in the Green Gate project, which will be an integrated housing environment project.
The Nigerian Minister of Housing and Labor, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Yacoub expressed his thanks and gratitude for this tour and extended an invitation to Redcon Group to visit Nigeria as soon as possible to discuss cooperation in the completion of housing projects because Nigeria needs at least 200,000 housing units each year. Which was welcomed by Redcon, and confirmed that it is actively seeking to enter the Nigerian and African markets, as it is the best and future opportunity.
As part of the events, the association organized an important meeting with one of the largest engineering and architectural consulting firms AUI, Engineer Ahmed Fayez, who is one of the senior offices that participated in the designs of the administrative capital. It also established a new administrative capital, Abuja, which is more organized, coordinated and modern within Nigeria. The Nigerian side welcomed the immediate start of cooperation in the field of consulting and dealing with Egyptian offices and activating the buyer training for engineering consultancy at the level of the private sector to maximize expertise and open job opportunities between the two countries.
At the end of the second day, ElSharkawi affirmed that these events realize an Egyptian dream for the Egyptian private sector to enter Africa and aim for more cooperation, and that there are many countries of the continent, including Zambia and Mauritius, coming to Egypt with large commercial delegations during the next two months, and this confirms that what we are making is a realistic and effective effort to serve The Egyptian business and financial community directs its thanks and appreciation to the directions of the political leadership and the Egyptian government in support of all the Egyptian business community without exception, the Federation of Industries and the House of Representatives for their presence represented in the Chairman of the Africa Committee, as well as the Economic Authority of the Suez Canal, Afrixambank, the private petroleum and mining sectors and agriculture for their efforts and constant communication to make this a success important event.
