Within the framework of the work plan of the Industry Committee of the Egyptian African Businessmen Association, the Committee arranged an important meeting and a visit to the Industrial Development Authority with the aim of discussing strengthening joint cooperation between the Egyptian Industrial Development Authority to transfer the expertise and services of the Authority to African countries, starting with the State of “Senegal”.
A delegation from the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association headed by Dr. Yousry ElSharkawi, accompanied by Ambassador Dr. Abu Bakr Sarr, Ambassador of Senegal, the Extraordinary Ambassador of Senegal to the Arab Republic of Egypt, visited the Industrial Development Authority. They were received by Major General Mohamed Fadel Al-Zalat, head of the authority and heads of the concerned sectors, and he gave a distinguished presentation On all the services provided by the Authority and what it accomplished in the past eight years in accordance with the directions of the Egyptian political leadership to pay attention to industry and support a concept that confirms that industry is the locomotive of development.
And how the authority finished overcoming all obstacles and challenges in front of local and foreign industrial investors, and took into account all the points that work to speed up the pace of work, whether in the allocation of industrial lands, easement and delivery, as well as licensing procedures for low-risk projects and high-risk projects, reviewing how the authority has made a distinguished stride in cooperation with industrial developers from The private sector, which led to the completion of 17 industrial complexes at a cost of 10 billion pounds in 13 governorates in Egypt, aimed at providing 50 job opportunities. The specialized industrial cities were also presented in full detail, such as the Al-Rubiki Leather City and the Damietta Furniture City, as well as the city of treasures for marble in Galala and what these cities contain. During the meeting, Dr. Yousry ElSharkawi, head of the association, Eng. Mohamed Foley, head of the Industry Committee, and engineer Irene Michel expressed their deep thanks to the authority for its support of the industrial community and its keenness to solve manufacturers’ problems, specifically in the face of current challenges.
Elsharkawi affirmed his thanks and appreciation to the authority, reviewing the Senegalese side, and how Egypt and the Egyptian business community, in cooperation with distinguished government agencies such as the Industrial Development Authority, can contribute to transferring these experiences and expertise to many African countries that need to be launched industrially, and this is the path to real sustainable development.
ElSharkawi called on the Senegalese ambassador to hold a meeting in the near future with the approved industrial developers, cooperate with the authority, and those with competencies in an urgent meeting to discuss how to coordinate with the Senegalese Investment Authority and the Senegalese business community to start establishing major industrial complexes in Senegal using Egyptian expertise, services and experiences.
