The Egyptian-African Businessmen Association headed by Dr. Yousrey Elsharkawi attended, Preparatory meetings for the Intra-African Trade Fair 2021.
ElSharkawi said that the exhibition is one of the largest exhibitions held on the African continent. In which 24 African countries participate, it provides a huge platform for displaying goods and services and exchanging information on trade and investment in African markets. It also represents a strategic opportunity to promote and develop intra-African trade.
He explained that Egypt is participating in the exhibition with a distinguished pavilion, with the participation of a large number of Egyptian companies from various industrial sectors. In addition to the Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise Development Authority through a number of companies specialized in the field of handicrafts and crafts, In addition to the active participation of the Export Council of Readymade Garments and the Export Council of Leather and Leather Products.
He explained that Egypt will have a huge presence at this year’s Intra-African Trade Fair in South Africa. Noting that during the exhibition, the National Day of Egypt will be organized, On 16Nov During which, trade and investment opportunities in Egypt will be presented, as well as the promotion of Egyptian tourist destinations.
The conference aims to enhance means of trade cooperation between African countries and discuss the obstacles to intra-trade and the challenges of activating the African Free Trade Area. The conference also includes announcing a number of events related to the Intra-African Trade Fair in its second session, to be held in South Africa from 15 to 21 November 2021, organized by the African Export-Import Bank in cooperation with the African Union Commission and the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat.
The Intra-African Trade Fair 2021 aims to provide a unique platform to facilitate the exchange of trade and investment information to support the increase of intra-African trade, Particularly in the context of the implementation of the AfCFTA Agreement, which entered into force on 30May , 2019, which, It became effective on 1January , 2021.
Al-Sharqawi said that the exhibition is expected to receive more than 5,000 participants from all 55 African countries. and the rest of the world, It is also expected that new cooperation agreements and investments worth more than $40 billion will be signed.
The objectives of the Intra-African Trade Fair include working to find an advanced mechanism for exchanging trade, investment and market information between business owners, investors and manufacturers from different African countries and discussing solutions to the challenges affecting trade and investments among African countries.
