The association participated in the work of the important and expanded preparatory conference, which was organized by the African Import and Export Bank. With the aim of coordinating the African Trade Fair and Conference, to be held in South Africa at the end of this year, The conference came today amid an extensive presence of African ambassadors, The participation of the Ministry of Public Business Sector, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Egyptian Exhibition Authority, And those interested in joint African activity and action.
Elsharkawi participated in the open discussion session with the head of the Export Development Authority, The President of the Automobile Producers Association, as well as the official of the Intra-African Trade Agreement, The speech of the chairman of the association came announcing the many activities and events conducted by the association and its readiness to support its members to achieve goals that are in line with what is required by the objectives of the Intra-African Trade Agreement.
The conference was attended by Dr. Benedict Orama, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export-Import Bank and Nevin Jameh, Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, and Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, Ravi Pillai, Member of the Executive Council for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs of South Africa, kanayo Owany Director General of the Intra-African Trade Initiative – African Export-Import Bank, Mai Asal Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Exhibition and Convention Authority, and Mamdouh Salman, Chairman of the Egyptian Export Development Authority.
The conference aims to enhance means of trade cooperation between African countries. And discussing the obstacles to intra-trade and the challenges of activating the African Free Trade Area, The conference also includes announcing a number of events related to the Intra-African Trade Fair in its second session, scheduled to be held in South Africa. From 15 to 21 November 2021.
The Intra-African Trade Fair 2021 aims to: To provide a unique platform to facilitate the exchange of trade and investment information to support increased intra-African trade, As part of the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement, which entered into force on 30May, 2019, Which came into effect on January 1, 2021.
The exhibition is expected to receive more than 5,000 participants from all 55 African countries. and the rest of the world, It is also expected that new cooperation agreements and investments worth more than $40 billion will be signed.
The objectives of the Intra-African Trade Fair include: Working on finding an advanced mechanism for exchanging trade, investment and market information between business owners, investors and manufacturers from different African countries. And discuss solutions to the challenges affecting intra-African trade and investment.
